Your vivarium should have a tempeture of 25-30°C.  This can be checked using a thermometer.  If the tempeture reads this tempeture without any artificial heat sorces (heat pad - see picture above) then you are very lucky because you can save electricity.  If the tempeture does NOT read over 25°C, then unlucky for you you do need a heat pad.

If you do require a heat pad it should:

  • be on the side of the vivarium, near the top so that your tarantula does not burn itself.
  • NOT be on the bottom of the the vivarium as your tarantula will burn itself, even more so if it is a burrowing (digging) tarantula.
THE HEAT PAD MUST BE CONTROLLED BY A THERMOSTAT!
